  • McCovey Chronicles (36,862)
SF Giants chat room. Great insight into the Giants internet fan base. Tends to be cliquish like most message board/blog communities. If you can filter out the annoying over-reliance on irony, nasaly neutered snark and consequential lack of substance, there is some entertaining writing, though many of the more interesting contributors have moved on and/or contribute far less frequently.
  • Extra Baggs (776)
Giants beat writer blog. The Giants from a non-player/spectator frame of reference. Not averse to spreading clubhouse gossip about players unrelated to actual game play. A younger and more ethical version of Max Mercy, the crass fictional writer in "The Natural". But at heart a true fan.
  • Joe Posnanski (770)
A gentleman who exemplify excellence in expressing his thoughts in a special construct of words that are at once humorous, compassionate, and insightful. He is the only guy I read on a regular basis who is a bigger wind merchant than I. The difference is, Joe Pos is a great writer and a noble man.
  • Only Baseball Matters (768)
The Most honed SF Giants Blog of them all. John Perricone, when he is not building houses, takes on the Giants front office, Bay Area Media, and others who seem to be adept at pulling fast ones over the fan's eyes. Has written sparsely compared to years past, yet is still recognized as one of the more serious, credible, and at times profane, blogs out there. The granddaddy of Giants bloggers.
  • Making Time Stand Still (634)
Eric Neel's almost beatific essay about former St. Louis Cardinals hurler and current Atlanta Braves Advocate, Bobby Dews, the Sisters of Charity and the true essence of a meaningful life. This is a particular side of baseball, that is usually passed over by sports media; it lacks prurient topics and has no antagonists.
  • SSU Baseball Alumni (529)
Sonoma State Baseball Alumni Page One of the top Div II baseball programs in the country. Top rankings in graduation rate, players advancing to pro ball, and over 100 alumni in the coaching and teaching community around California
  • World War II Pilots (525)
WW II Pilot Heroes. One of the oldest and best World War II Pilots sites in the world. Over 750 pages of content, original artwork, combat simulator models, interviews, biographies, essays and video.
  • Glenn Dickey (508)
The best main stream sports journalist in the San Francisco Bay Area. Trusted friend of the late Bill Walsh and co-author of Walsh's book: "The Making of A Champion". Has more insight and a deeper perspective on Bay Area sports than the rest of the local media combined.

A good-natured and kind man, with a sharp wit, and sense of history who is totally unimpressed with himself nor his subjects. The integrity of his writing is what matters most to him. A sports journalist, not a gossip columnist, trying to curry favor with National Media nor franchise owners.
  • Sonoma State Baseball (475)
One of the top NCAA Div II programs in the country. College World Series qualifiers twice in the last 4 years. Western Regional Champs in 2008 and 2011. Doing it all with one of the smallest budgets in all of Division II
  • Jim Bouton (454)
Former Yankee Great. Author of Ball Four and savior of old ballparks. If you want to know how important children are to ballplayers who take their fatherhood seriously, you need to read his books.
